Nevada AI Political Ad Disclosure Law (AB 73)

Effective Date: 2026-01-01

The Nevada AI Political Ad Disclosure Law (AB 73) requires disclosure when synthetic media is used in paid political communications in Nevada. Synthetic media means AI-generated or substantially AI-manipulated images, audio, or video, and the disclosure must clearly inform viewers that the content was generated or manipulated by artificial intelligence. The law took effect January 1, 2026.

How the Nevada AI Political Ad Disclosure Law Defines AI

The statute defines AI broadly as a machine-based system that infers outputs such as content, predictions, or decisions from inputs. That broad definition means most generative tools used in ad production will fall within the law’s scope.

Exemptions and Compliance

Exemptions cover broadcasters, cable and satellite operators, content producers transmitting third-party ads, and satire or parody published as entertainment. Campaigns and political advertisers buying media in Nevada need compliant disclaimers on any AI-assisted creative, since the duty falls on those producing and placing the communication.
